Hello

Just had to fit a new DPF sensor (Fiat Item) after FAE unit fitted in France on 16th May 2019 not working (showing OBD II fault code P2452 DPF differential pressure sensor electrical diagnosis).

I emailed FAE regarding this faulty and the fact that it had only been fitted in May and the warranty as I could not obviously take it back to Service Agent in France. I also asked whether it was OK to use DPF cleaners with their products.

Good morning
When a Fiat has a p2452 error code, this means that the car has the following fault:
Fault Details: Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) Pressure Sensor A – Faulty Circuit
Reason: Wiring, DPF pressure sensor, motor control module.

All our products have a 2 year warranty, but we need to analyze the part to see if it is defective, these parts in many cases are damaged after having performed a cleaning with particle filter products, if we see traces of these products in your analysis, the warranty is void, I am at your disposal for any query.

Best regards.

That being the case I then emailed Wynns UK to ask whether it was known that DPF cleaners should not be used or are know to damage DPF sensors.

This is their reply.

Subject: RE: DPF Cleaner technical help

Thank you for your email.
When used as directed Wynn’s DPF cleaning products will not cause any damage to DPF pressure sensors and are compatible to use in all vehicles fitted with a DPF.

DPF pressure sensors are also connected to the dpf by metal and rubber pipes away from the DPF.

One of the main causes of a DPF pressure sensor failure is due to a high restriction in the DPF from soot/ash accumulation, as the sensor calculates how full the DPF is by pressure this high pressure then damages the pressure sensor causing it to fail completely or give an incorrect reading due to damage.

Kind regards
