But is it not possible to space it more (5-10mm) to lessen the 'knock-knee' effect?

I think it's 3mm on the rear original. I have 5mm + the original 3mm. No problems, but it all depends on your offset. Just take a look inside the wheelarch. If it's room, there's room. :p

Judging by the pictures there most likely is room. I'll have to remember to buy some before Easter (not planning on changing wheels before) :)

Hi sorry been away for a few days over Xmas so did not get a chance to login.

Wheels
All b's do come with rear spacers as OEM. You can add 5mm-20mm spacers if your wheels have a PCD of 4x98. The rub is I have 4x100 wheels so this makes things a little more complex for me. I would like 10mm spacers on the rear wheels but I need special long bolts and a bit more mod work :-(

Sub work
The space around the sub is the petrol tank enclosure ands its not 100% air tight but its close enough. No whistling sounds but I am going to add a port the other side and add some speaker foam to help with the boom.

You will have no change to build a box around the sub as the petrol tank gets in the way plus you just dont have that much space. You will not get anything bigger then a 10" sub and thats pushing it.

Hope this helps.

PS I have a load of pics of the sub install, so feel free to drop me an email and I will send them over for you to take a look at. A 10" sub in a small two seater is loads !!!! so I cant see you ever needing more then that. :slayer:

Below is a few pics from when I fitted my 10" sub. The petrol tank cover has a bend in it that I expected would be a real nightmare but as most of the speaker can be bolted down it fits perfect. I found that using some of the Dynamat to seal in the speaker worked better then expected.

This job is easy but you need to make sure you get the speaker in the correct Place as you dont have any extra room to play with.

I am still yet to fit a port or fit the speaker foam around the petrol tank but will update you with pics and info when I have.

Dont ever try to fit a 12" sub. IT WILL NEVER FIT :slayer:

Hi Doc, thats some work you have done to the B.
Can i ask, how have you ran the power cable, all i ever hear from my bro's forum is to keep it well away from the petrol tank etc.
Car is looking really well (y)

Hi OZ (y)

About the power cable issue, well I have my battery in the boot of my Barchetta and have run the power cable down the drivers side of the car to the engine. All my stereo cabes run down the passenger side to keep it away from the power. When running a battery positive cable from the boot you must fuse it as its a good 5m long.

The advantage of having the battery in the boot is the amp power cables are easy and short.

Sorry forgot you had moved the battery:bang:
Ive never encountered any probs with running the power cable but just stories i had heard and thought it was worth a mention
Cheers

Thanks for the info! It's very nice to hear what other people have done before I start the mods myself.

This job is easy but you need to make sure you get the speaker in the correct Place as you dont have any extra room to play with.

Is it the alignment that is extra important, or is it very tight behind the panel for the sub as well? I have a 10" that I wouldn't mind using, but it's pretty deep. It's mounted in my Uno right now, so I don't have the accurate measures, but I think it's about 15-17cm deep, and the magnet is about 13cm in diameter. Should I ruin the box I have in my Uno to see if it fits, or is it an absolute no-go?

Hi
Depth of the spaker is not the problem, its the circumference thats the issue. Thats why I said you could never go any bigger then a 10".

The problem is you have to cut the panel to fit the speaker but its hard to know the exact location as you cant see behind the panel to line it up.
(If that makes any sence) You only have a few mm each side of the speaker to play with, so take your time as it would be easy to stuff the panel up as you only get one shot at it.

On the plus side the panel is easy to cut with a jigsaw.

You will also need some Dynamat for this job as well as some internal speaker box foam and a port.

Port like this

FYI I think it would be good to Dynamat the boot panel (The panel you look straight at when you open the boot) thats between the hood and the boot as this faces the back of the sub.
