Hi all

I’ve got a Doblo Cargo 2006 reg. Been a great van but I’ve got a problem. The door stay stuck and broke off the bit in the drivers door. As we were stranded with a door that wouldn’t close, the strap had basically seized in the door pillar, I had to undo the bolts causing the door stay to fall inside the pillar.
Having looked at this site, and YouTube, it seemed a relatively easy thing to do to change the old one for new. BUT my van doesn’t seem to have the nice entry points, I.e. via the speaker, that are shown on the demonstrations.

I've got an MOT coming up very soon and am a bit worried that it might fail with this problem.

Anyone changed a door stay on a van such as mine or got through an MOT with this problem?

Any ideas/suggestions will be much appreciated

Hi Lestin I don't know if you cargo is right or left hand drive but I changed my door strap (right hand drive) by removing the plastic trim panel beside the accelerator pedal which houses the fuse box unbolt the fuse box to allow a little more room and popped in the new strap. Maybe I was lucky as I have smallish hands. Good luck mate.

I hadn't noticed but all the creaking and groaning my door was doing when opened or closed was caused by the check strap not operating correctly. Eventually, it simply broke off - with some of the door pillar still bolted to it:eek:

That took an imaginative bit of welding to sort out.
