Do not park here...

Do not park here...

Its one thing if your parking as a one off thing, but its common courtesy to ask permission if your gonna park outside someones house everyday

like i said., would you do it every day even if you knew they had a car and needed to park?.,.,

If my neighbour specifically parked outside of their house day in day out (which one does, with his work van) of course I wouldn't - because that's rude. However, during the summer when the caravan is outside I park day in day out outside a house a bit down the road and they sometimes have visitors, but nothing would ever be said...If I was going to visit somewhere on a one off I wouldn't not mark infront of somebody's house to say go shopping etc. etc.

Well your just proving my point! you wouldnt do it arroogantly and only do it outside a house that doesnt have a car usually whhich is fair enough

so whats all this about?
I am some ****er and deserve key marks on my paint?! LOL, you really don't have a clue.

I am not proving your point at all, in a specific circumstance I wouldn't do it, every other time I would...

i have double yellow lines outside my house..

re cones and blocking spaces, sometimes it is legit. i work renovating houses and the current project is on a narrow street with uber car parking issues. we need to get vans and stuff in to deliver and collect, so spoke to the council and have a permit to block the area of road directly in front of the property. these are only issued for short term (around 6 months i think) but still, perfectly entitled to leave cones there.

back on topic. post-its. love it. ace :D

Well the circumstances i described were as listed above,
A one off is one thing, but someone parking outside your house everyday isnt on when they know you have a car!

Now you said you wouldnt do that in those circumstances, which I can respect but when i first said it yourself and a few others weren't long about pouncing in to get a contradiction.,.,

Sometimes i feel like people are only looking to argue rather than have a conversation.,., anyway this was supposed to to be a light humoured thread so im not going to get any deeper into it., we all have our own opinions and thats it.,.,:)

If one an empty street my neighbour parks their car in the same place each and every day, I would never go and take that spot, that's obvious and I doubt anybody would. That would never be put to debate.

In most other circumstances however, I would happily park infront of somebody else's house, like I am right this second...

Lol love the picture, gives me an idea...

As for the way its parked it might seem ok but if you got lets just say a 14ft van to pull out of the drive on a narrow one way road with cars parked either side then with the offending car close or even hanging over the drop kurb makes it hard or sometimes even impossible to get out due to the shear length and lock of the steering...

This happened the other day with some silly bitch and when your self employed and not being able to go out on a call out job because someone thinks its ok to park there it can cost you a few hundred in missed work.

But if you block them in for doing the same thing to you they’re not happy about it.

I try not to park outside other peoples houses but if theres not much room its dog eat dog...

yes it IS dog eat dog, and they will learn, they are getting better at not parking on our patch but still.

if worst comes to the worst I'll just park on their empty drive :worship:

And this IS a light hearted thread, and pretty much EVERYTHING I POST is lighthearted and never really mean't (except jade goody and fitting ends, their really mean't, LOL, again light), i've seen so much sht over the last year that not much faze's me anymore, kind of takes the life out of life :(

My boyfriend used to live on a road full of terraced houses so everyone parked on the road, it was a case of get a spot where you can, sometimes you managed to park outside and other times you had to park miles away, its just the luck of the draw. although i can see some peoples arguements people who lived close by had 4 cars and they never moved them it got on my tits but they were taxed so had every right to park there.

See I'm going to agree.

Well maybe my circumstance is slightly different.

My Driveway can hold 3 cars but there is only one slope. Tis the way the council done it.

The slope is small and has a Steep Gradient. I have to use another slope which is half inbetween my block and another block so technically the slope in both of ours.

The slope has a yellow line on it. A yellow line with no signage means 24hr restriction. There is a High kerb which also has a yellow line but you'd be a fool to Jump the Kerb to get out or in (I was forced to once NEVER AGAIN)

I have come home from work at 0200 in the morning to find some inconsiderate bastard has parked their car directly in front of the slope....

I have been this close > < to smashing the window to remove the handbrake and roll their car out of the way.

This close > < me and my dad both came home one night seperately but at the same time to find neither of us could park our cars in our own drive. I said to Dad "Lets smash the windows and move it otherwise we have to wake up really early before the traffic wardens come" he said no and that we will just let the air out the tyres on this occasion. It did mean however we had to park about 400 yards away and it was FREEZING cold that night.

Next time the offending vehicel will be moooooved!

oooooh, now I can get this off my chest and hopefully a bit of advice from the kind policeman^^ :D

I have a very expensive italian resturaunt next to my house whose kitchens are opposite the end of our gated driveway, the road itself has double yellow lines on both sides of the road (on the resturaunt side and my driveway side) and no parking painted on each part of the wall.
now heres the issue.

Last year a group of pikeys stole an Escort RST from a bit further down the village and dragged it down to my road (which is a dead end) and spent 15 mins trying to get it started, after failing to get past the immobiliser they set fire to it...in the middle of the road right at the end of the driveway. it woke my dad and he rushed out to try and put it out but alas he was too late and the huge fire melted the back of his car, killed all our shrubbery, slighty melted the tarmac & obviously the yellow lines and also burnt the wall of the resturaunt.

fast forward a bit to now...

Dads car was repaired (but had to claim against his own policy, thank god for PNCB) but the road was left in the state it was in. meaning the yellow lines on the both sides of the road is still visable but broken, also the resturaunt repainted the side of the wall but never bothered to paint "no parking" back on the wall.
Problem I'm having now is I have huge fat cat mobiles parking opposite my driveway (one of these being Barry Fry, if you know your football you should know him) every friday saturday and sunday night so I can barely get off my driveway and its only a certain amount of time til someone backs into one trying to get off the drive (you have to reverse off it)
We've gone into the resturaunt and asked them to make people move but they never do, the cark park is always full. I took to leaving notes saying "please in future leave access to my driveway clear at all times, as access is required 24/7" but often find them screwed up on the floor or on my driveway. Even asked the council to come repaint the lines and they havent.

Sorry for my long winded post, but what can I do about this?

It winds me up no end :(

to solve the yellow line problem would recommend doing it yourself. You can buy the paint in spray cans that contractors use when doing road works. Not a permanent solution as you will probably have to go over it as it fades in time but at least it will solve that problem till the council pull their finger out (y)
