i phoned up my local fiat garage and asked a simple question-Do seicento sportings come with standard spacers on their standard alloys-he replied with i cant comment on this!!!!!!?????i'd need to see your car-i then repeated the question saying this is all i want to know-he then said hold on a minute then came back 2 secs later and said no-I've been told by ppl on here that they do come with standard spacers-so i phoned this company in devon who specialise in fiats he had a look for me and said that the schumacher seis have standard spacers but hes no 100% sure that mine would as its 99-i told him my problem-that when i turn the wheels to full lock it clunks a few times(at the moment all spacers are off), he then described the fiat spacers to me-which were one of the sets of spacers that were originally on my car (there was more than one set on at the same time so i had no idea) so he said try them on and see if it stops the clunking-he was more helpfull than the SH**** fiat garage
anyone know? or had any probs with the fiat garages??!!?, know any good ones?

well the guy that answers usually puts me on2 parts, i duno if he did today cos the 2nd guy sounded like the 1st one????????
only about 4 ppl work there, well i never see anyone new

'you see when they call themselves "the fiat garage", its ust a franchise. fiat dont own the garage, nor do they employ the staff. they sell the person who owns the garage the fiat brand.'

dont have a clue is a bit harsh. same as with any garage its down to the quality f the mechs, techs and training.

bit more to a franchise than just buying the irghts to use the name

but surely they are a FIAT garage so should be able to tell me the answer to a simple question about a FIAT car???????

they were the 1st ppl that came to mind to ask-obviously really
o well n/m

it helps if you ask for the right person, in this case you needed to ask for a tech that had been working on fiats since before the sei went out of production. i dought it was parts dept they would have asked for a vin number.
was probably must reception guy and salesman you was talking to, they wouldnt need to know this

In theory, yes, but it not the fault of Fiat. they do not own any dealerships. this is an issue with the franchise. fiat just authorise them to service their models and sell their new cars.

what franchise is it?=

Yes they did have spacers from new - there was also a recall where spacers were fitted to sportings with 14" but that was a while back.

if i ask a question and they cant answer it they should put me on to the right man!!
he did put me on hold for a few seconds so he must of asked the parts guy-there isnt many ppl that work at this garage-im pretty sure i see the same 4/5 faces when i go there
the guy didnt even ask for the year my car was made or any no.s-come to think of it im pretty sure i asked them months ago when i put standard wheels back on if there was spacers and i think they said don't know......I'm sure it was them i asked

Have to say the place i work gets worse every day  .
We recently moved premises and now we share a workshop with SAAB and no one on reception knows f##k all about fiat/alfa's - the majority of all questions go unanswered or just some BS is given.

If i could do it meself i would.

He is one of them 'useless' fiat techs. :D

I'd suggest that if you ever want a part/query consult FF first, then try a specialist. Then go to fiat and give them the part number that you want. Although there are some decent Fiat techs, you can just never tell if you're going to get a good one or an idiot.

Maybe each Fiat garage should have an ambassador on the forum who will be the public face for each garage?

Why would Fiat techs want to come on here anyway???? Every time T and myself click on this site we are slagged off by assossciation. We have talked about it alot recently. Fiat specialists are fantastic, thats all we here. Do you lot know how much info I give to "Fiat Specialists" every day? I generally get approximately 5 phone calls for help from these guys every day, from all over the UK. Now, can I turn round and say they are all crap? No because that would be generallising, and it isnt the case. The most upto date info is given to dealers, not specialists and not Fiat Forum. Dealers can find part numbers for modified parts which are not listed on eper, they get information released every week from Fiat, they also get trained on official courses for specific vehicles and new technology. That is why T responded in the way he did and it says something that he isnt recognised as one of the guys who gives out the bet help on this site, by other posters.

I very much doubt there is much upto date info to be brought out for the Seicento, never mind older cars like the Uno/Tipo.

If you wouldn't mind discussing with me how we can get the service we need from Fiat, and how to find the likes of you and T then give me a PM and we'll take it from there.

P.S. Where are you based that would have specialists from around the country phoning you? Surely they would phone their local fiat?
