Has anyone done this?

Im wanting to have a power supply straight from my battery to my HU and a ground straight to the negative terminal.

Has anyone done this and what gauge cable will I need? The HU is drawing 10amps IIRC

Also, do I keep the ACC lead connected as it is now and have a direct line to the battery from the '12v' or the other way round? I obviousley need to keep the HU's memory and I need it to switch on with the ignition.

well i wudnt hav thought u wud need to connect the (-) to the batt terminal cant u use ground on wum bare metal of the chassis as the chassis is connected to the (-) terminal anyway

theres no benifit in running a cable to the battery terminal as the bodywork earth runs to the neg but theres no harm either,i would use the same gauge as the power for safety but on the cinq theres a good earth bolt on the passengers side at the loom connectors under the dash and you can bolt to the bodywork with a ring connector;)

I want to wire it directly because the ground that is used by the HU is shared by all the electrics in the car, the ground isnt a very short cable, it goes on for ages before it is ground to the chassis. Ideally with all things, they should be grounded straight back to the negative (including the amps in the boot), its just a happy medium to ground to the chassis.

I will be wiring the ground straight to the negative on the battery and the memory to the battery positive. I'll let you know how I get on!

If you get the chance, do it. Its well worth the effort and the cable. Especially for the grounding.
