i know it might sound stupid but have you tried re-setting the ECU through disconnecting the battery for 10mins or so and then reconnecting?

have you thought about taking it to an italian car specialist if you havent done so already? I have heard a few guys talking about a guy call paul at motormech in birmingham, maybe worth having a chat to him first to see if they are able to suggest anything before you send it to that big, and ever expanding coupe heaven in the sky!!!

What do you mean no reading? no oerror codes or diagnostic equipment not communicating with ecu?

If the ECU isnt communicating with the diagnostic tool its most prob a defective ECU. Defectice ECU's sometimes wont even comunicate with Examiner (FIAT diagnostic tool)

Re: diagnostic. ecu. power fault coup getting worse

well the answer was a bad earth connection to the ecu!! my mate tony has saved me loads of money!

as for the diagnostic both fools were pluging into the abs socket!!!!

running like a new car now. well almost need a new thermo and rad:cry:

makes me wonder if alot of problems are related to bad earths fccuk is full of power problems

Excellent(y)

Problem is often only the supplies are checked & never the earths! Alfas suffer badly from this, seen ecu's & body computers(147)changed etc...for no reason:(

yea i tell you what if i took it to main dealer i would of had my trousers down and my arse slapped.
i would of been charged hours of labour for it and probably a new ecu £670 from fiat:eek:

you can get them reconed but thats from £35 plus vat plus postage.
thank god for my mate:slayer: :worship: :worship: (y)

Rad is just over £100, thermostat I think is about £30 or so. They're fairly easy to change yourself, (though a 20VT with aircon makes it harder).
