Ive got a punto 1.8 hgt mk2. It wont start, its getting fuel and sparks. The bloke came today to diagnose it. Its logging as oil pressure switch. Does anyone know if this would stop the engine from starting???

thanx

The oil pressure switch is often wired to cut fuel and/or ignition when there's no oil pressure so the engine will stop, but as you say the engine is getting fuel and sparks, the problem will not be the oil pressure switch,

hi
any ideas what it could be???? its getting fuel, spark, all the lights go out on dash, you can hear fuel pump kick in, its tries to go, but just cant.

The inlet manifold was cracked, so thats been replaced, its just had a new battery, previous owner said it had new plugs and crank sensor.

Only thing showing on diagnostics is oil pressure switch.

Im not familiar with that exact setup. But wouldnt unpluging the preasure sensor be a good test or is it a more complicated sensor than the standard grounding type? If it starts you know its the sensor or oil pump is at fault. Obviously turn the engine off straight away until the problem is found.
