Has anyone pulled fuel injectors from 2.8td about 1996 and found no copper washer seals?On a visit to Iveco dealer showed parts man injector and he went straight to the shelf and supplied copper washer which was not the flat type but domed asked if he was sure, told he’d been doing it for 40 years.Visit to Fiat with Iveco part number told no longer available and didn’t come up with alternative.The original van engine was 2.5d at some time changed to 2.8td as fas as I know it is a 8140-43,I’d be interested to know if anyone has experienced problems with injectors and getting parts.

Try Darwen Diesels they are helpful, also eBay has listings although you may find cheap versions are harder copper so a poor seal.

Copper work hardens. If you have access to a gas flame/cooker you could anneal them by getting as hot as possible, then plunging into cold water. If as Mike has suggested they are still in the head and you can hook them out, then you could anneal and reuse. I used to do this with Land Rover injector washers.

If attempting to anneal use a long 30cm plus bent wire hook, and leather work gloves. Take care.

Hi,when injector was removed put some plus gas in and left for hour then did screwdriver trick nothing came out,borrowed cone shaped metal gadget,made for removal of copper seal,nothing moving,carefully scraped about,nothing copper coloured,went in with 12 bore bronze brush still no signs of washer.The dome copper washes from Iveco are about 2.5-3 mm thick so plenty of metal for screwdriver or other gadget to grip.The washers aren’t available from Fiat so maybe who ever fitted injectors just didn’t bother with them.Thanks for your reply.
