I look at my standard punto with hopes and dreams of it one day been modified to a suitible standard, but it takes time , money and effort.....

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on whether i should just sell it and buy a already modifed punto or keep it and modify it in time..... cos i'm in a puzzled mood on what to do.

Thanks,

Chris

Yer get some pics on here.

I doubt I ever would buy a modified car to be honest, the whole point of modifying (for me anyway) is so that it looks (and sounds) exactly how I want it to :D.

Modifying can get very expensive, but you just have to do it bit by bit, I change something once I either get bored or see a real good deal.

Punto MK2 Sporting 16v, Full Abarth Bodykit + Alloys.

I wouldn't buy a pre-modded car as you never know what kind of a monkey has done the work!

I can't afford to modify my 55SX properly, being a student, but it's got a few cheap & subtle bits on it. Smoked side repeaters (about a fiver off ebay), LED sidelights (£5), under-car neons (free), K&N induction kit(£50) and EBC brakepads (£55). Oh, and £400 of sound system which I bought when I was less skint!
Looks a bit better than standard, sounds sweet, & goes a little faster too :D

my punto is the same as johnny in his pictures but black ..... i'm buying alloys for it but i just wanted to know if i should mod it or buy a modifed car .... i'll keep it as you lot and i am beginning to think its better than buying a car thats been flogged around.

Thanks :D feel better now :D

Yea best car you can get is a 1 previous lady owner low milage. 1 because they look after the interior aswell which men dont tend to do even me [xx(]. Also i dont mean to be sexist but women especially older women tend to be alot easier on teh old accelerator :D. Once you got a good base car then the rest should fall into place. I sort of got bored with mine.

1st. 15" FoX alloys with toyo tires.
2nd. K&N 57i Induction kit.
3rd. Sony Xplod Head unit and 10cd changer (later twoked by a scally wearing kappa and rockport boots f**king hate the townie c**ts [:(!]. then placed by a £250 one so i aint complaining).
4th. Front headlight eyebrows to give it a aggresive stance :).
5th. Rear spoiler (couldnt be arsed to fit after spraying it).
Next.Probally lowering springs from ETSmotorsport and a low restriction backbox (cba with a full system).

Just because its been Modded doesnt mean to say its been trashed around and the more the person does to the car the more likely they are to look after the car , it only makes sense doesnt it ? If you want to spend thousands of pounds making it sound good and look good the last thing you want to do is blow the engine up and end up broken down on the edge of some duel carriageway or smash it into the side of someone etc .

To mod a car properly costs mega bucks so its well worth investing in one thats already done .

If you can pick one up with everything on it for less than 4k I would say buy it , even if the engine is rubbish you can put another in for less than 1k because there are lots of puntos around for less than 1 k which you can pick up and use to your advantage .

There are a lot of people who dont like modded cars around, but believe me it takes a long time and a lot of effort to make a car look good and even when its done there is always something else that can be done .

Im all for mods that actually do stuff like the K&N's etc but what is the point in bonnet vent that dont actually vent into the engine bay? thats just funny. And those gay exhaust flamers and turbo spoolers of ebay. Its just a laugh. A car like a punto, saxo, fiesta, astra etc are for going from A - B nothing more f**king boy racers with modded cars I hate them (Reason for high insurance costs cause they cant drive when they think they can). I just dont see the logic in spending £5000+ on mods when you could just save the bloddy money / get a loan and buy a decent car which wouldnt need mods such as a skyline / Mr2 / Impreza

Yes the experience is modding it up yourself I agree but if you just want it already done a s a nice looking car tahts fine too.

Chris the reason people spend that amount is when they take them to the shows (a bit like cruffs) they can show off their cars have a lot of fun and maybe get an award or their face in a cool magazine.

Its also a babe magnet believe it or not you wont pull in a 3 wheeler , I agree with you on the vents though , I never know why people stick on the box type thing on the bonnet when its not giving any air whatso ever to the engine and in my opinion doesnt even look good.

lol yeah to right there chrisuk and stevirobbo some people mod cars stupidly for instants my mates brother has a 1.0 litre micra done up to death ..... no point nob heads in 1.3sr nova standard as hell blitz him at traffic lights. Its a smart car and i'm all for mods but i only plan to mod mine to a decent level i.e to look smart but some guys just go crazy.

thats nothing i got quoted of a website that looked very similar to that for a GT when i was 18 with no claims bonus and under my name fully comp.............£33,850 yes u read it right £33,850 how much of a **** take is that it was only worth £2000 id have to total a couple of bentlys to get my money worth:D

MrC go for it your self its so true about getting the experience because when you get it to how you want it you will know it inside and out wich is handy when something goes wrong.

Well I would definately recommend Esure to anyone who is considering insurance !

I was paying £668 for fully comp on my Punto 16V cabriolet and I thought that was ok ,but this year they sent me a requote of £690 which I wondered why it had gone up as I hadnt had any bumps etc and it was a year older car etc so I rang Esure . very cool , quoted me £323 fully comp and for an extra £45 I could have home start breakdown cover and no claims protection and the insurance for any court dealings incase of an accident plus I get a curtesy car delivered on day 1 if I have a smash now thats an insurance quote !!

I took them up on it and saved half my money , plus they let me pay it monthly which is a life saver to say the least, also I found out after I took them up if you do it online they give you an extra 10% off for online shopping , how cools thats ?
