Hi all
I don't see any forum posts on this type of brake noise but if you have experience please let me know your thoughts.
I'm going to document this issue here and update as I find a solution.
I have a punto mk2 1.2 16v ELX speedgear 2001, with a slight and very short occasional squeak on initial depression of the brake pedal. This sound only occurs at the very onset of braking and dissipates quickly.
first thoughts were obviously worn front pads and disks, however on initial inspection the pads/disks are not worn.
There is potential that rust and or cheap replacement pads/ disks may be at fault. or brake glazing.
Also, paranoia may have me imagining a scraping noise in line with wheel motion when I set off or this may be part of the issue.
Secondary thoughts are to either strip down the front brakes and take a better look and reassemble, or to move on to check the rear drums (which I hate working on).
Any better ideas?
Cheers
