however i didnt wish to use it today as the weather was hot but i had no choice.. why did this happen

what can i use to stop using demist in the summer

my demister is fine normally..
my air is set to recirculate from OUTSIDE not inside.

i dont have aircon..but i need to know a good demister how no chocie i was left with smeras after wiping i which prob made my window worse..

please help..

secodnly what is rain-x how do you use it doesi t really work

what is anti-fog..same as above question..

rain x - creates a kind of film over your window, rain forms on window, wind blows it straight off, simple

anti fog i would imagine is similar, i have both, love rain x! however anti fog i never found that great

RainX is great. It makes the rain get off your car VERY quickly at when I've used it you don't really need to use your wipers at night. :)

Flash car wash system has a similar effect but not quite so good

Agreed, rain-x is amazing stuff. As for the inside just keep the glass clean and don't let people put their grubby mitts on it :)

No one dares touch the glass in my car as I go off the nut lol

haha, i'll have to remember to stop people touching my car, i already have enough trouble stopping people eating in it :(

Can I add my endorsement for Rain-X, Brilliant on motorways when overtaking lorries with all the spray. No need for wipers. water just rolls off

Guys, am I thinking right that if you use Rain-x, but then get a chip on your screen it can't be repaired ?

Something to do with the chemical in Rain-x that the screen repair stuff reacts with and won't work correctly..

no idea, but could you not get a bird to crap on that particular area - this seems to stop the effect of rain-x :)

Speaking of which I have 2 chips in the screen :(

re

I also use rain-x and agree its great, espeecially for helping water roll off side windows that dont have any wipers obviously!

I can see the point it might react with whatever they use to repair chips, but then you have to keep re-applying rain-x and i'm sure with a rag and some thinners you coudl clean it off yoru windscreen/windows, its only a chemical layer afterall.

fairy liquid and a half-decent sponge does the job of stripping all waxes and protective layers off quite nicely. Which is a very good reason why you should NEVER use fairy to wash your car. not that anyone here is daft enough to do that...

I tried Rain-X once (or perhaps a different brand, same stuff, can't remember) and it made the rain worse, by making it gather in really small droplets all over the windscreen making it totally distracting while driving. Did I maybe just not
apply enough?

re

I do normally go over twice to get good coverage, and you have to follow instructions properly, misting on some water when takign it off. . .

also you have to be doign 20/30mph before it starts runnign off properly. . .

ok fair enough but what about the demisting situation inside the car
hwo can i prevent that

Keep the glass clean as stated earlier - you won't solve the misting problem but it will clear faster. I never touch my glass unless I'm cleaning it.

thing is i did clean it

i noticed it got worse when it rained which is norm but what should i have doen to clean it
that is vague info

It's not vague at all, I don't use anything special just window cleaner and paper towels. It's always gonna steam up when it's wet because the air is more humid, or you have a leak somewhere - I don't think there's any way around this.

re

i did have a worse problem for a couple of months after i left a window open, i think just where there was more moisture in the car there was more to settle on the windscreen.

make sure you take whatever cloth/towel you use to clean it out of the car, and consider cleanign it once when it is misted up to get a lot of the moisture.

another thing i tried that i saw on kim and aggie was to put bowl of salt in your car, as salt absorbs moisture in the air apparently!

i remember doign it but cant remember whether it helped or not really!

I had a mate who put a fresh towel on the parcel shelf every week, it seemed to work for him - I didn't want to go down that route due to me being cool lol
