delock dehandle dewiper debadge

Debadge - done
Delock - kinda done - ish. There's no barrel, only the handle :p
Dehandle - as above
Dewiper - no fecking chance if recent weather's anything to go by :p

Just gotta decide if I'm gonna tint the window or not - it's out ATM, so if I am, now is the perfect opportunity :)

Looks like I've made the decision - bye bye lock.

Right, where's me stash of FG and filler................

When I do mine I'm going to Chem Metal a coin over the hole, then fill over it :p

I think I may as well do it properly and get it welded up :) If not, then thick plastic sealed then glassed over should do it :)

Well I figured a tuppence Chemical Metalled in isn't going to budge, the coins thick enough and Chemical Metal's strong enough, and I'm a ghetto kind of person when it comes to this game ;)

i wudnt fibreglass it, will prob crack off, welding its test best bet, make sue you lightly indent the hole as well though so as to be able to filler after its welded (y) we often weld coins into holes as well - never fails

I got a way of doing it without welding figured out and using a minimal amount of fibreglass too :)

I was thinking just the same today it is probably quite easy to wire an intermittent controller in there, I might pick one up next time something breaks and I'm searching around the breakers

Right, gonna be starting the delocking and smoothing on the weekend :D Just one quick Q - I would be OK just filling the boot crease in with bodyfiller, i.e. would it be too thick a layer?

Also, got some bumpers to smooth :) Would using just bodyfiller be OK, or should I use FG first then skim with filler to finish off?

Cheers (y)

for the bumpers youll need to drill holes in the ridges to allow the fibreglass the plug it up and bond in also you will have to use 40grit or similar to really scuff the bumper ridges up or else ull find the filler will crack out, use fibre glass 1st then filler after

best stuff to use is top stop gold or any other fine grit filler (y)

Yep, I was thinking of using plugs with the FG - didn't know 100% if filler only was OK :)

I've got a bucketload of Loctite's Body Filler, so I was intending on using that :)

Yep, thats right, filler would just crack with the flex, fibreglass first with holes, make sure before FG'in that you really rough the bumper up and drill holes every say, 40mm 6mm (ish) wide too and wipe it over with thinners before you start, then smooth it over wth filler, workign through the grades of sandpaper until you finish with 1200 wet and dry ready for 2K primer (y)

Cheers boys

Just got to get me a new front bumper and some ornamental gaskets and we're in business :)

I'm starting to get the smoothing bug now - thinking of looking for a bonnet to smooth over and spray! lol

Right, gonna start prepping the boot for smoothing :) Just one slight worry I have about the locking mech.

I want the bootlid to open via the internal boot release. My bootlid is a scrappy item and therefore has no barrel fitted. How can I tell if the boot was locked or not when it was removed from the scrapped Cinq? Or am I just worrying over nothing? Last thing I want is for me to finish the bootlid, fit it, and then find I can't get the thing to lock  I'd rather play about with it now rather than later IYKWIM :)
