Yes we agree. He also had a tongue bashing. They do appear to be sorry, but we do get the idea that they would rather we went somewhere else, which we will for service.
 
Psfiat- can you believe it there's a delay after they told me it arrived in Australia already last month. Dealer calked me yesterday as said it's going through compliance check ( what again!?) I'm started to think they are lying!!!!

Hmm... Compliance check? The car is usually in your hands within about 2 weeks of arriving. Though not a great scenario, one cause might be the the car was damaged in transit at some stage and is now being repaired . This is way more common than people realise...
Ask for a firm delivery date - see what they say....
 
I did asked them why it is taking so long to go through compliance because it seems very odd. I was worried that some of the parts haven't made to Australia standard and that's why it can't be release to the buyers. But they didn't tell me specifically what it was, the guy who calked me said the car is fine it's just they can't release to me yet because series 3 can't be officially driven on the road ??
 
My car arrived mid-June so must be same Series 3 as yours and I've had it for a few weeks now ...I'd contact Fiat Aust about this. The factory would have built the car to fully comply with Aust requirements.
Seems very strange ....
 
It does seem that the patience of a Zen master is required to order a Fiat from the factory.


We ordered our 500 in late May and won't have it delivered to Sydney until December (!).


I wouldn't mind so much except the dealer claims ignorance of build status, potential shipping dates...everything really.

I can empathise with that after my 9 month wait. My dealer could only tell me that the car was ordered and approximate build month. As far as arrival times went, I only found out about 2 weeks prior to delivery.
So hang in there...
 
Thanks ...it will all fade into the background, I'm sure, when the car is in our driveway.


Just hope it's not a 9 month adventure like yours.

That's what I thought as well, and I calked them again on the weekend and asked them what is wrong with the check when is it taking over a month now. They said nothing is wrong with the car they can't release them to any customer yet because no series 3 is on the road yet? ---- how strange is that !??

Not in terms of any public announcements perhaps, but it seems to me there are three distinct flavours of the 500:

The original launch cars, with the early type rear suspension, no S/S (unless specified as an option - which was unusual) and some other detailed differences (the MFD is not the same as the one fitted to later cars, for one).

The cars built from around Jan 2010 onwards, with the revised rear suspension & S/S as standard.

And now the latest cars which are homologated to Euro6, which have the dual position clutch sensor which seems to be causing issues for some, though not all, recent purchasers.

I'd bypass the dealer and go straight to Fiat Aust customer service- gets weirder by the day ...
