Hi I’m new on here and looking a bit of advice, just bought my daughter her 1st car a 2014 500 pop, when should the timing belt be changed on this? I’m reading assorts of numbers and all conflicting 🥴
Also the service book is all up to date but not sure if belt has been done yet.
Any help would be appreciated thanks 🫣

Deffo a new water pump at the same time Its a false economy not to do it as its only about £40 and everything's stripped down! imagine not doing it and it failing 6 months later and having to pay for all that labour to strip everything out all over again, i would also advise checking the main metal water pipe at this time as well and if even slightly corroded then fit a new one for all the same reasons, and check if your thermostat has the plastic or metal outlet to the heater matrix if plastic then change it for one with metal as these are known to fail suddenly leading to massive coolant loss and potential head gasket failure, be sure use a good quality long life coolant and you should be good for 5 to 10 years.
PS when i did mine i was a bit anal about it and also changed the top and bottom radiator hoses as well it dont add much to the bill but does add to peace of mind!

I was told that whem it reaches about 60000 miles? I just bought Fiat500 2016 plates with 33000 miles on it and the dealer was convincing me that it does not need changing, I also have full service history, in one year it only drove 2000 miles?

Every 5 years or 60000 miles, whichever is sooner. If the car is low mileage (<6000 pa) then it's actually 4 years.

A 'full service history' means nothing with respect to having the timing belt done.

If the car isnt driven too much doesnt it have a direct favourable impact on the belt change?

You might have to ask Fiat for their reasoning behind their intervals. My guess is that rubber belts being left in one place for extended periods isn't good for them.

The information, if you want to check, is in the manual.

Thanks for all the replies and advice and def gonna look into getting it booked in and done 👌🏼
