I expect nobody has done this to their Panda.

Basically I love how the 100HP's exhaust pops when you lift off, but like the exhaust note and volume. I assume decatting it would make it pop more?

Has anyone decatted their Panda at all with any exhaust?

I don't think so and it's illegal anyway, tampering with emission control systems.

Not to say I don't enjoy a bit of exhaust pop myself, but only on my bike which has absolutely no concessions to emission controls at all. 4 thirsty carburetors and a wide open exhaust with a muffler only in name, not so much in function. But that's the way it was built in 1996.

The Panda was designed, built and tested with a cat. Unless this is for a track-only vehicle, you're just doing yourself, your car and the environment a great disservice.

Not aware of any others than this but, essentially, this tubular mani-cat would keep it legal, release a bit of torque, and may possibly accentuate that pop on overrun you like, due to the free-er flowing 200 cell, (less asthmatic).

Best thing about this, is circa the same price as a standard mani-cat, downside is that there would be a considerable shipment charge to get it over here, nice to know their out there though eh ?

Wayyyyyy too expensive! I'm on about a cheap but well-made custom jobby. Not arsed about the environment, all these racing cars, touring cars, F1 cars, rally cars etc.... they're putting **** into the air so I am too. I know it's illegal, that's why you change it back at MOT time.

I had a full decat on my Impreza WRX and that thing was stupid, spat flames every so often and popped like mad! I've calmed down now though, just want my Panda to pop more :D

Until I read your post I was going to take the battery we took out of the wifes Legacy to get properly recycled but now I'm just going to open it up and pour the acid down a drain and chuck the rest into a hedge. After all, if jamiejesus doesn't care why should I?

Jamie what you have to remember is that the panda section of the forum is more occupied by the 'mature' owner, should of posted it in the punto section where the more younger generation hang out.

In terms of making your Panda pop more i'd replace the middle box with a straight pipe, that should make it sound better, either that or replace the back box with a straight pipe. (y)

:yeahthat:

Providing the back box is big enough to dampen the sound to a reasonable level, that middle silencer is ridiculous, over the top and carries excessive weight (n)

I have a friend who did this to his clio 182, but for me I could not be going through the whole process of swapping and changing it, besides would it not throw a error code and also as the car is N/A it would also require some backpressure other wise you could loose performance. Personnally I would opt for a HI flow cat and go for reganza cat back system with no center silencer also the group b back box

Look out, another eco-mentalist.

Cheers Rob, a helpful post finally. Will look into that, is there anywhere that sells straight through middle pipes?

Jamie seeing as you are in Manchester, you need look no further than:

http://www.jpexhausts.co.uk/

They are based in Macclesfield and will do absolutely anything you want in respects of exhausts and piping. All their systems are stainless and custom made to your specs. Go down and see them, they'll sort you out. They'll do a straight through pipe if that's what you want. I've got to be honest, I really wouldn't go anywhere else and I would say that their quality is better than most aftermarket systems I've seen.

Agreed with Lauren, custom is the way to go. That company you posted looks good

They do a lot of high end stuff, like Bugatti's, Ferrari's and the like and we used them extensively going back a few years for manifolds and systems for K20A conversions on Elises in which I was involved with at the time. They were the only company that could make manifolds that didn't crack which was a major problem we had with other suppliers. They also did all my hard pipes for my MR2 Supercharger as well as a cat back system for my old BMW 325i Coupe (that was the best sounding car I've had!). Highly recommended. (y)
