....anyhow, they all have Dec21st 2012 as the day the earth changes again forever

Only changes for the next 25,000years then :p

This sounds rather interesting. What was the programme?

Don't forget the thing underground. Can't remember the name.......Big circle under our European friends. Are we all actually dead now? Hmmmmmm work and FF continues into the afterlife? (n)

Hey even if it cod****e, make believe or humbug its interesting, cynics always howl "off with his head" or the like with stuff like this. Dont get me wrong I'm cynical too but the TV program was good (cant remember what channel it was, it was when I just woke up about 5.30 a.m. one day)

Its all way beyond me in terms of the why's and wherefore's!

A few things to note though :-
It HAS happened before... and does regularly.
Science can show it happens.
There is logic to why it happens.
We as an intelligent race haven't been around long enough to record the events legibly.
However, some did... the Mayans and the Chinese.

Place your bets and roll the dice.... :D

Won't be as bad as the great storm of 1607 which flooded the Somerset levels and killed hundreds in England and Wales. It was probably a sunami, but I still doubt tonight will be as bad.

Then there was the storm of 1707 .....

we have paved over a lot of land since then and chopped down a lot of trees

Actually there are far more trees in England now. They were so concerned about deforestation in the early seventeenth century that laws were enacted forbidding the burning of wood, which is why we see so many coal burning fireplaces being built from this time onwards.

We have paved over a lot of land though.
