I have a tax disc holder from the dealer, I'm not bothered about changing it. Also the back number plate has the name of the dealer on.

I had an Arnold Clarke one on mine but as they are so c*** I removed it straight away and the buggers had the cheek to mention why I didn't have it on there when I took it back in for a service 3 months later!!!

Ditto! Took mine off as well. Will wait to see if they comment when I take it in for a service.

they are not illegal simply because they are show plates, they are only illegal if they break the rules. plenty of show plates can be perfectly legal for road use, mine always are, i simply get normal legal plates made but without the maker's details on them. it is only illegal to make them like that for road use, but using them on the road is perfectly legal. if it wasnt then many people who had a plate made before the law came into effect would have been using illegal plates, even the original plates were often blank before the law and they arent suddenly illegal to use on the road.

only for road plates, that is why plates without the postcode are sold as show plates, and are perfectly legal. the law only applies to making plates for road use, not using them on the road. its a well known and well abused loophole.

if you get a set of plates made at Halfords the makers name and post are etched so unless you are really up close you cannot see them

i have left the stickers and number plate on my Punto as they show the local FIAT dealer and as the car is totally standard gives the car some provenance

i removed the dealer sticker as that was all i saw every time i looked in the mirror, really annoying:idea:

I didn't even realise mine had a dealer sticker in it. My rear windscreen is tinted and you can't see it through the glass. Bless them for trying though.

I figured I'd leave it there for comedy value.

haha yeah, theres a mazda dealer round where i live and they put their name next to the mazda to look like an actual badge! slyyy!

FJ Chalke in Somerset do a similar thing except they stick a little chrome plated dog on the back of all their cars .
If I went to pick up my brand new car and the idiots had vandalised it like that I would demand a completely new car, just to make a point .

a pug dealership near me do the same, but my dads fell off, same with the HDi badge as well, and I hate people driving with arnold clark stuck on the back, it makes it look like a hire car.

It doesn't bother me to advertise if I get good service from a dealer.

I've bought used cars from a different franchise dealers before and taken the sticker out... it would look daft with a Peugeot or Ford branded sticker in the back of a FIAT.

I have mixed feelings about these stickers. I think that having supplier plates and stickers (preferably faded and with a patina of age) actually adds to the sense of originality on older cars. But, especially while the car is new-ish, I generally dislike OTT stickers.

Possibly the most OTT dealer branding in the country comes from Mangoletsi in Cheshire, whose practice is to place their name in giant letters across the back screen (plus tax disc, service reminder and plates). ISTR that they used to even claim on their website that their branding was so sought after that this added to the desirability of the cars! I think this was based on the idea that Mangoletsi plus Alfa Romeo was a bit like the Park Lane and BMW link mentioned earlier in this thread. But who wants to emulate Beemer Culture here? TBH its, shall we say kindly, a tad pretentious of them to do this to an Alfa and (they sell Fiat too) simply outright silly when they similarly decorate a Panda....

Well, I keep my dealer stickers in. Since I've got the car from that dealer (providing they're a main dealer and not a used dealer), I might as well return the favour and give them a bit of promotion, too!

But nonetheless, the "Grays of Warwick" sticker in my Punto is tiny, and so is the logo on the bottom of the registration plate, so it's hardly a big deal for me.

I do hate courtesy cars like those from Hartwell dealerships that put all kinds of stickers on the bodywork advertising their dealership and the price of the model (being driven) from themselves.

i took my sticker strait off. as when i baught my punto it had a nissan garrage sticker on the rear window. no thanks nissan this is a FIAT PUNTO.
the preveious owner aparently serviced it at a nissan garage.
also the reg plates say nissan on but very small. im going to change these soon i think lol.

I think the ironic one is theres a new corsa that parks near the train station that used to have a fiat dealership sticker in the back!! Needless to say it since has been removed...lol
