Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 38 in a 30....the 30 was a dual carriage way
I do quite a lot of motorway driving, and i usually bomb along at about 85mph if its reasonably quiet. I spend my time looking at the road rather than my speedo tho.
Whenever you go through some roadworks on the motorway that are signposted "50mph - speed cameras" i always slow down as i know these cameras are usually active. The thing is, i spend so much time looking at my speedo making sure that (god forbid) i stray up to 55mph that i have less time to look at the road. Say it takes 1.5 seconds to look down at my speedo, refocus my eyes, read the speed, look back, refocus. Thats 1.5 seconds later it is likely to take me to respond to some danger on the road. You can travel a long way in 1.5 seconds.
I really believe speed cameras are more of a hazard than anything else. It really annoys me when i am driving along at 50 in roadworks, and some **** burns past at 90, slams on for the camera, then speeds off again. Its these people who cause the need for cameras.
