I am in the process of buying a 500C with the HI-FI upgrade but I want to have DAB which does not seem to be an option. Is there any DAB add on units available that can be controlled via the 500's head unit or will I be using my trusty old Pure Highway DAB unit via the Aux socket?

Connects2 do a system called Autodab which is good, if a little fiddly to use. Completely hidden though, so looks very smart!

We've got it on one of our Guilietta demonstrators and the sound quality is very good, it works by modulating the signal onto an FM frequency, tune a radio preset to that frequency and then use the normal remote controls to operate it. Thinking about it, it won't work on a Pop, but if you're looking at Aux In, you should have the steering wheel controls anyway.

Just be aware on the 500c there is no normal radio antenna,

It uses a wire strip in the front screen and reception is poor to say the least so not sure how compatible this would be with DAB reception

Alpine and a couple of other manufactures do a couple of windscreen mount dab antennas which look pretty good. You might find a blaupunkt dab antenna on the eBay for el cheapo.

Don't overlook an aftermarket head unit though. I got a wiring loom for use with the steering wheel which works very well. If you've got the inter scope hifi system that could possibly be powered through a line driver if necessary.
