Hello all, I apologise if this has been covered in another thread but I need to replace the CV joint on my 1988 Panda. I’ve removed the drive shaft and got it on the bench but how do you then remove the CV joint?

Regards to all

If you are talking about a normal front outer CV joint, then once CV boot removed I usually give the joint a good clout with a copper mallet whilst holding the shaft as in most cases I would do it in situ.
However if you have a problem there are CV joint pullers available which grip the shaft inboard from the CV joint and then as you tighten the CV hub nut it will cause the joint to separate.

Thank you. I’ll give it a clout tomorrow and see what happens!

Best with a large copper mallet as steel hammer may damage CV joint if you don't intend replacing it.
Some manufacturers used a circlip visible at the shaft end of CV joint, Vauxhall was one and quite easy to release and shaft slide off joint, but most are a thin ring type circlip inside the CV joint almost at the end of the shaft splines, hence the need for "violence".;)
