Car's cut out twice today. Been idling a bit rough. Both time it's cut out
today have been while sat idling. Once cut out completely and I had to
re-start the engine. Second time power went as I was trying to pull away
from a junction. Power went for a couple of seconds, injector light came
on then power came back again.

Any ideas ??

checked the MAP sensor is still connected? if the pipe falls off, that causes **** idling and cutting out

We had a quick look at the map sensor today. Unplugged it and Charlie ran
like a bag of ****e. Plugged it back in and he idled ok. He's not cut out today
but he does feel to be running a bit rough.

Any other ideas or can the sensor be a bit tempramental ?

Carla, if the injector light came on you should be able to pick up the fault from a diagostic check. My money would be on the Lambda sensor.

Out of interest, has it had new plugs and leads recently?

Hi,
The pipe that goes to the map sensor can get full of engine crap and sometimes needs a flush through with carb cleaner, this can cause the symptoms you have described.
I replaced a faulty lambda sensor early this year, did not do as you described when failed, it would be fine for about ten minutes of dual carraigeway driving then the light would come on until I slowed to about 55 for about two minutes, then it would stay off for another ten minutes or so.
If all else fails check engine wiring connections, battery, ecu, coils etc, you have had mini's in the past, I sure you know the importance of wd40.....

Thanks

Pete - not had new plugs and leads since I've had him. It's on the list of
things to sort.

Injector light only comes on when there's the loss of power. It then goes
out when power comes back.

I'll give everything a look over when I get chance. The pipe looks reasonably
ok at either end but wouldn't do any harm to flush it through, along with the
main breather pipe as this is probably full of crap. There's also a fair bit of oil
in the air filter box.

Lambda sounds like a culprit too. They die fairly regularly on Cinqs. Check your TDC sensor too! That caused me a massive headache last year!

Chane the plugs and leads first you bad girl you!!
You wouldn't treat any of the minis the sane way would you :D

Remember cars are like women.....they need a bit of maintenace from time to time or they sulk (y)
