hi, ive bought a set mattig of mirrors, now i know there isnt any base plates for dtm mirrors etc so i doubt they make them for mattig mirrors, so how do i go about making them, i know you can get 'universal' ones but will need cutting etc so im thinking it might just be easier to start from scratch?? what materials will i need etc n does anyone have any handy tips??

i would just weld them to the body work and smooth it out and respray the pannel , the people iv seen who have wing mirrors without being able to get plates have done this.

chances are they are gunna be abs plastic which makes welding a problem.... unless there is a way to weld plastic to metal. lol. making a base plate from scratch is risky business without great skill.... depending on your abilities, id prob use a mix of fiber glass and filler over some sort of basic base, but be careful to make sure both sides are identical etc. it would most likely be "easier" to use generic base plates and custom fabricating them to fit. like has been said though, you may find it easier still just fixing the mirrors directly to the bodywork and filling over the joins to smooth them in.
