Hello Everyone :slayer:, new to the Coupe part of the forum but used to be on here in here with my punto in that section.

Anywayz, Had my 2.0l 20v turbo coupe a week or so and i want to get in the car one morning to find that i had left the interior light on. This had of course drained the 'battery big time'. I then recharged the battery and turned the ignition and now she won't start for love nor money.
Have tried getting the spark plugs out which are quite black with carbon residue so i brushed em a bit and had another go and no luck.

What should the battery volt meter in the car read before starting up?

No code light stays on so don't think its that.

Ignition spark light come on and goes off like it should.

*There is a ticking noisewhen i turn the ignition key to on, do not remember this before???*

Please help as i only have a basic knowledge of my car.

Many thanks,

Paul :bang:

Volt meter in mine used to under read a bit..11v when the ignition was on and just over 12 when running. Real voltage across the battery when charging was 13.5.

Suppose your injector light isn't on...red lamp that looks like a shower head on the dial?

Otherwise you need the usual things to start..air, fuel and a spark.

Are the plugs wet with fuel after you turn it over?

Hi mate, many thanks for reply.

The shower head looking light comes up and goes off.

The plugs are not wet i have checked them. Should the inside of the engine ie. under the spark plugs, be bone dry as it was when i removed them? cheers.

Its really annyoing me now as it was so close to starting earlier today but it seems like something is there hindering it.

Anymore help would be real great. :)

Should be some fuel on the plugs..you should smell it. Maybe the noise you hear is injector issues? Its a long time since I've had a coupe. They are complex animals so I'd suggest getting it into a garage to be checked over.

cheak the earths around the battery area
Hi, just waiting to collect my battery and i will give it another go.
Decided to give it in to a local garrage who are charging it up for me for free so we will soon know if that was the problem, it's bound to be something else though grrrrr.

Will post bak on my progress.

Cheers, Paul

She lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:slayer:

Got that battery charged up at the garage for a good 24 hours on their 'special charger' as they like to call it and wholaaaaaaaa.

Only problem now is the car is reving a bit on idle so when i pull up to lights etc i sound like an old lady who is revving her car far too much, lol.(n)

Could it be that the injectors need a clean? and should probably check the air filter too?

Cheers ppl.

find the idle control valve, disconnect it. Ignitioin on. Wait 30 seconds. Ignition off. Reconnect ICV, ignition on 30 seconds then off. Off for a bit. Then fire her up. Might sort it.
