Can anyone tell me from experience roughly how much a re-map of the ecu will cost from a Fiat dealer. Are we talking reasonable or day light robbery.

remap cost

shouldn't be more than £30. It's not more than 1/2hours work.

ecu remap

Brian,

forgive my incompetence mate but i'm intreagued with the details on remapping the ecu. I have a 98 1400cc bravo and have recently made changes to it with a performance induction kit. I'm interested to know wot difference there is between crypton tuning and re-mapping. Do they both basically do the same or is there no similarities to it at all? I've heard thet a performance filter can 'knock' the car out of tune. will either of these resolve this or do you think it wont make any difference.

cheers mate

remap

When I'm talking 1.2 engine ECU remap it's because the basic map supplied is very poor and has a few "holes" in the program. The remap is an update of what should have been tried and tested by Fiat BEFORE they started installing it in any of their cars and is just designed to make the thing work properly.

A "Krypton tune" is a tune up of anything and everything that can be tuned when fed in from different sensors but certain Fiat engines have different ignition setups to standard and often engine analysisers need a conventional distributor in order to diagnose problems so a full Krypton tune may not be possible on some engine variants.

When you start talking tuning of engines then this is a different ball game. You can "chip" the ECU which is a bit like putting a sports camshaft in your engine in that it can give a power increase and shift the torque band but there is often a pay off in economy or engine life. Power's got to come from somewhere! Read back in the forum for owners experiences
