Hi. I'm having a weston, a weston super mare! Recently bought a bravo, 51 plate. Radio didn't work. Found security code and did my best to enter it, 8 tries I've had! After 4 tries I suspected the code was not for this radio, so, 3 hours later after removing it from the dash I confirmed that the serial numbers were infact correct. Has it been re coded? Can it be? Serial number is FA 50021113358, code is 8974. Or is it? Any ideas out there?
Are there any places you would suggest I go, be nice, this has been unbeleivably stressfull!

I beleive I followed the instructions regarding "stand down time",time between tries.

Thankyou

Couple of options.
nip into Halfrauds, £50 should buy something cheap & cheerful with loads of extras that your original hasn't got (?)

nip into nearest car electrical specialist. they will have the radio out & hook it up to their machine. A good one will be able to tell you what the original code was & how many times this radio has been messed about with - they can even reset to original.
The downside is that this could cost similar amounts to option 1.
If this is one of those radios like in the vauxhalls - with the display elsewhere & the radio all built in etc then worth option 2.

OH bought a 3y/o astra, battery was naff so the garage fitted one free - radio wouldn't work so instead of doing the decent thing, they slapped a new code on it & off we went (but they forgot to tell us what the code was). Radio started blowing fuses. As OH had taken out extended warranty, the warranty co told us to take it to local car electrics place.
They discovered the amplified aerial had water ingress - hence the fuses blowing.
Couldn't code the radio for us as we didn't have the new code - so they hooked it up and discovered 6 codes had been placed in there (so 5 in the 3 years before we got it!). The guy's words were "why can't these people simply reset the original?" - which he did & everything was fine.
I guess different places have different priced machines, some can obviously do more than others?
