Copies of the key

Have seen a Bravo 1.8 155 HLX I really want to get. Everythnig is perfect with it apart from the fact that they only have one key for it. That key is the red key so that at least is good I take it.

However, I would ideally like to get a copy of this key.... how easy is this? Can i just take it to a key shop or do i need fiat to do it?

key shops can copy fiat keys ok. You really dont want to be using the red key daily.

Really you want to buy a new blue key from Fiat and use the Red key to program it into the car. If you get a copy of the Red Key done, then effectively you are using the Red Key all the time.

IS it a bad thing to use the red key all the time? How much to get a new blue one from Fiat.

Is there some sort of difference between the red and blue keys?

The red one is the MASTER key, used to diagnose problems, the blue one is just a SLAVE key used for opening doors, starting the engine ect

IIRC you take the red key to FIAT, hand it to them, and let them at your car for an hour. then they give you your red key back, 2 shiny blue ones, and take £90 off you. Easiest and bestway.

high street shops clone the key you have. so you'll just end up with red keys (even though the plastic on them may be blue, the transponder inside will say otherwise to your car)
