Alright ppl,

Just a random question I am strongly considering lowering my Punto by around 40mm both front and rear for a lower ride height and also for appearance purposes. If any of you have had your Puntos lowered is there any inside vibrations or rattling for example like the rear parcel shelf rattles or side plastic rattles? I was wondering because I f***ing hate it when that happens and with the car being lowered surely it would make it more responsive to un-even road etc making the inside compartment rattle? Does this happen?

hi and welcome. your car looks stunning.:slayer:
the problem with lowering the car ,to all the cars not only gps, is exactly what you described before. the car becames more responsive to rattles. if you hate it like i do then you will change the suspension immidiately. another far more serious problem (particular in bmw) is that if oyu go to low you will have to put much stiffer springs that in time might fracture or even cut the whole dome. believe me i have seen this and it is nasty. many z4 and z3 bmws come with fractured domes and chassis. anyway i have seen only one gps with the front right dome totally cut from stiff suspension. so if you go through with it be careful with the stifness of the springs. just to mind what i write is not the rule rather the exception. at least for the gps. anyway the rattles will drive you crazy.
hope that all goes well with your decision and uch more sure that you won't regret your choices.(y)

I thought the ride in my GPS as standard was **** anyway, the eibachs deffo made it worse, but the way the car drives now is absolutly superb, it looks the ******** too, Im glad I did it

the eibachs made it worse?

what are you running now that is so much better?

i dont understand half of what youve written actually

If your going over a sh!te road theres not much you can do about stuff rattling in your car lol Personally i dont think the eibachs have made the ride bad. Obviously it is gonna pick up bumps more as the springs are harder but thats the sacrafice you have to make if you want to be low.

Il sum my post up for you

Ride was crap standard

its a bit worse with eibach sportlines.... BUT

handling is vastly improved, it feels more stable at speed, and the car looks so much better

so im willing to put up with a bumpy ride

you have smaller wheels and bigger tyres though, and the sporting is lower standard, im seriously thinking of getting 16s and 50 profile tyres

coilies make it even more vibratey and shake yur teeth out...pahh standard shocks&springs are far too soft lol

not a bad ride in your opinion Matt

in MY opinion its crap, doesnt bother me too much though if im honest

If I get 16s I will be getting pro race`s

Thank you all
Haha cheers "GDRIVER" about saying the Punts is stunning, much appreciated son!
So what would be the suggestion then Eibach Sportline has been mentioned alot? So am I best going for them then, I have been deciding and the car really does need to be dropped even when its sat on 17's, its a** is far to up!!
I have been doing a little looking into springs those that have good knowledge about lowering and what is the best for the car how would u rate Apex or JanSpeed springs with 35-40 mm drop?
Lol I know the car rattles anyway even when not dropped, but I do want to be able to listen to music or cruise along silently with some reasonable amount of cabin silence without too much drum and bass of rattling playing in the car LOL!

Cheers all

go for 50mm Eibachs much better springs... to be fair people say 50mm, the actually quoting is 45mm at the front and 30mm at the rear well thats what i was told when i got mine. But they can drop as low as 50mm.

you got pro races nice (y) nearly brought a black set for mine, before i got some abarth rims

++++100! you will not regret it. i've done it with oz hlt. no relation to the 17 with 45. much more quieter an much more ride .comfort

Just out of interest.... does the front of the car scrape more when its lowered?? Mines scrapes on the ground at certain angles, and mine isnt lowered (wouldnt like right having a elegenza lowered)

Also.. does anyone know if the front suspension on the Elegenza 1.9 Mjet 120 is 'stiffer' then the lower models???

it's not stiffer, but it has different springs as the diesel lump is heavier than the petrols.

Actually, they may be the same springs as the m-jet sporting so possibly.
