components in the front of a cinq?

components in the front of a cinq?

I suppose you could just about get them in the 10cm holes if you cut round the existing one. Dont quote me on this though. Ive seen the crossovers put in the centre console pocket edges too. they looks quite orignal. The tweeters need to be facing you, so somewhere like on the top of the dash (if you have a decent alarm). Alternatively you build some new door cards and sink them into that.

Hope this helps (y)

Was it my crossover's you were thinking of??? As I've mounted them in the centre console

I'm not sure you could get 13cm speakers in the dash as the existing holes don't have a lot of room behind them, plus the drivers side location is only just big enough for the 10cm speaker because og the A piller cover and the way the rest of the dash is possitioned.

This doesnt relate in anyway to the posts if you read it m8. And i would never recommend those cheapy adpters, they just vibrate and sound crap! (y)

erm, not to what you were saying but if you read the original question you may find that it does...

Incase you forgot, the question was how do you fit 13" components in the front.

Well the standard mountings i believe are for 10" so you will need an adaptor plate. And theres nothing wrong with the autoleads plastic ones, i use them and have no probs. If you will have vibration probs its cos of the flimbsy mountings to the car, not the plastic adaptor.

There are other options to reloacte the speakers but sometimes its just not worth it. you want the speakers aiming just in the right places, and sometimes the OEM mounts are the right places. Again may be different for the cinq, but with my uno, they are. I just have the tweeters on the front dash angled in and levelled on my HU. The crossovers are mounted under the dash outta the way.

I also have components in my rear, and have the crossovers screwed under the parcel shelve.

If i remember correctly they are only screwed into the original holes by 4 screws, which allows huge movements for the plastic to bend on the curved edges. Also adapters will not work in the cinq as the original hole has to be large enough for the 13cm magnet, which is not present in the cinq. This is why the holes will have to be cut and this is why MDF adapters will have to be made, so that you can attach the speakers securely to the dash. (y)

Where abouts do you have the tweeters in comparison with 'drivers head' as i dont know the layout of the Uno

i see what you're saying... just sometimes MDF isnt always the answer as its heavy, especially if its with speakers with a large magnet. The mounts on the MDF will pull out after enough vibration and time if mounted funny. I dont know exactly how you indend to mount it so what im saying may not be true in your case, but if i'd done it that way to mine, id be in a bigger mess than i would have done had i stuck with original parts. :)

i've got infinity reference components so the tweeters are angled in towards the center of the cockpit, front 2 small cutaway areas (best was i can describe them). basically at the base of each A piller on the inside. Then ive got DSO on my HU, and have set up the positioning ,equalizer and crossovers perfectly so the sound is optimum for me. Dont care to much for the passengers - my car my stereo :D

Mountings are very unlikely to come out if you secure them correctly (unless you use nails or thin thread 2cm screws!) This is what the adapters use if irc. They do hold the speaker secure to the the adapter but not to the dash...

The infinitys were a good buy. Ive used their 6x9's for ages and always had high quality sound from them. My set up is focused on R&B so Components were not really neccessary. Instead ive got two pairs of 6x9's which give amazing quality when combined with me 3 amps and sub. Fronts on mine are also just set up for voices so you get a surround effect. (y)

Anyway sorry for overtakin the thread arc. :D

RE: Mounts
i have to use the short thin crappy screws cos the mounting plugs on the uno are cheap and flimsy. Should i get it all the dash out later this year, i'll make a thin metal mounting plate, or someting or another and see how that goes.

RE: Setup
i listen to alot of DnB so the crispness of the treble is needed. same for the crisp bass. And funnily enough i dont own a set of 6x9's. Ive just got 2 sets of compents front and rear. The music i generally listen to doesnt have much in the midrange so my subs take the bass, tweets and small components in the front (kept with the 10") take the treble, and the 13" components in the rear take whatever midbass is left, along side some of the treble.

Although i think im gonna have to put the rear ones on a small cheap amp cos the speakers are a little funny. the bass on them is crap when the pair are working together, but if the fade is over fully to the left for example, the left speaker is fine. keep the fade central and disconnect 1 speaker and again the bass is fine. Now i'd believe the power of my HU isnt good enough, but even with more juice, the bass is still crap if the pair are running together. The front components are fine, just the rear ones are playing up.

RE: Takeover
Sorry, im probably not helping much either!

The only thing i have running off of my hu are the 10's. They arent brilliant turned up, this is why the bass is canceled out and balance set to 2 to the rear. Also my 6x9's set into my rear arm rests are run off of a cheap rally520 which is crap when turned up, but is on the lowest setting and is just there to give a high quality all round feeling when on lower volumes. Then when i turn it up the high quality volume from the other speakers cancel out the distortion from these. (y) I need to get round to getting a new amp for my sub also as it is slightly underpowered. One last q b4 i stopped mucking up this thread. Have you bothered packing ur sub with 'cotton wool' ?

nah i havent on my pair of 12"s, i did on my previous 10" sub that got nicked tho. Cant say it made that much difference, but if you got the stuff you may as well use it - it supposedly increases the speakers life, and gives deeper bass.
