Hi argonought hope i am posting in the right place sorry if am not cant find the info i require so here goes:confused:
driving my stilo for over a week now and its great love it but the clutch seems to firm but i have tried the put it into 2 gear and drive off and if ok it should stall the engine and this it did on changing from 1-2 maybe 3 gear seems a bit clunky but on change down fine goes into gear fine never any problem finding gears no grinding on change down its ok but the clutch seems heavy but always the same never gets spongy is the clutch pedal generally firm:confused:

no.. not until it starts slipping.. and that could take a while (mine got heavy after a year but lasted 3 more years after that) stop panicking and think of it as a work out :ROFLMAO: stilos have heavy clutches compared to other cars i tried.. and that’s not a bad thing as, personally, i get more feel from it! Yes it’s not nice in traffic.. but if that is a priority for you – an auto box on the next car would be advisable ;)

I have the same problem, clutch feels heavy and sticky in some places some of the time and every gear change up has resistance but nothing on the way down atall.

My clutch is extremely light but each engine has different clutches so it depends what engine you have.

But if you have an external slave cylinder like this then try lubing with grease the point where the slave cylinder pushes on the clutch actuating arm. This is a massive force single contact point and some lub here works wonders as it's normally neglected

You will get different views on this but I'd say the JTD clutch does feel a little heavy.

I certainly wouldn't start off in 2nd gear though as that's a sure recipe for heavy clutch wear.

thanx for the pics i have the jtd 1.9 115bhp does this have the slave you are talking about?:worship:

:cool:thank you argonought i drove it again today and i think its just a heavy system on the jtd i am used to driving the skoda superb mk2 and its as light as a feather so i will get used to it as far as the starting in second i remember seeing this done to check if the clutch was on the way out if you could drive off in second the clutch needed replacing if it stalls its ok so it stalled so i think i am fine :slayer:(y)

im having trouble too changed my clutch 3 months back just lost all bite on a30 just driving on just lost it anyone any ideas before i let the cowboys loose on it
