Recently when I have been pressing the clutch down I get a whistling sort of sound from under the bonnet, it is intermittent but it is getting more common and it seems to be getting worse, the clutch pedal vibrates when driving as well, I don't think it does when changing into fourth and fifth but that could just be because I can't hear it over the engine.

Any ideas what this could be?, it's quite annoying at traffic lights

I am going to have to leave it at the garage for the mechanic to look at it (he says he will have to look at the gearbox) but it won't be until next week when i have the time,

do you think it will be safe to drive for the next week or so?
how long do you think I will have to leave the car for?

Any help will be much appreciated

It's a bravo 1.4sx with 70,000 on the clock if that helps.

Cheers

Sounds like another release bearing on its way out to me. My Marea has had a whistle on the clutch for about 3000 miles. My mechanic says leave it until you can feel its grinding under your foot, then get it done before it colapses.

too late!

got up today to go to work and none of the gears will engage so I think it has already collapsed, now I can't even drive it to the garage so i'll have to get a tow truck to take it, luckily it's still under warranty and the clutch release bearing is covered.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Re: Clutch Squealing

Be careful, my clutch went on my 18 month old bravo, the car was second hand (ex demo), and the mileage was approx 65k, they wouldn't replace it under warranty as it had done over 60k, and therefore classed as general wear and tear, but you may have unlimited mileage warranty, let us know how you get on.
