Technical clutch slave cylinder -where is it

If you have a 1.6 (which is the one featured in the guide) you deffo need to approach from above. Removing the battery cover and the air intake trunking will reveal enough to give you the access you need.

Its a 1.9JTD. I found the squeaking part (which looks too samll to be a slave cylinder, but it must be) its behind bulkhead on drivers side, I've also had the battery cover off and car up on ramps to find the slave cylinder. I have given up as the part squeaking which must be a small slave cylinder is very hard to get at from above or underneath. I can see 2 mounting bolts as in the guide, but quite how u would get a socket or spanner on them beats me ? :(

:cry:Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, just changed my slave jtd a bloody nightmare its an all day job,but to be honest big mistake the problems was not the slave after all I think its the engine mounts banging knocking on aggressive gear change especially from 1 up to 3 then ok but if I am gentle no knocking at all so make sure you check everything else first before attacking the clutch slave as apparantley these are bomb proof.

Hi comrades on going issue, thought it was the slave but its not, clunking on gearchange upwards, but when taking my gearchange slow and steady no clunking,so I think its one of the engine mounts, not the 2 at the front, are there any towards the rear of the engine that could give me this knocking, seems strange if I take my time when changing up from 1-2-3 and take it smoothly its fine but once I start changing aggresive were the engine rotates back and forth its audible any ideas

Hi folkes, i have the squeaking clutch, but its not the pedal, now I want to grease the inside of the cylinder (as per the stilo guide), but I can't even see it from above the engine bay, is it only accessable from underneath ? Thx David

You're 100% certain are you because squeaking pedal is very common (many threads on this) but squeaking slave cylinder, as Davren points out, is very rare indeed

My sons pressed the clutch pedal and its the component attached to the bulkhead (drives side) in the engince compartment where the noise is coming from. The rod from the back of the pedal runs through/into this. The creaking and squeaking (even after greasing he whole pedal mechanism and rod coming from the back of the pedal) is driving me mad

That'll be the MASTER cylinder, not the slave!

JTD creaking/squeaking clutch, whats this part?

Hope the picture is attached, how do u service this part and what is it ? This is the part making lots of noise when I press and let up my clutch pedal. Thx to all for any replies - David

So are you getting this squeak when the clutch is activated (under pressure) or is it when the pedal is almost completely released (almost no pressure) ?

Thx Argo & all - It creeks/squeaks all the way down and back up. The only thing I found worked on a very, very temp basis was greasing the rod that runs off the back of the clutch pedal & goes through the bulkhead. Thx Davren for merging the threads I know u mean well, but I am now worried that anyone who has solved the problem of a "JTD creeking clutch" won't bother looking/answering a thread that says "where is the clutch slave cylinder", that's why I started a new thread of "JTD creeking/squeaking clutch". Thx all, someone must know the cure to this as I think its common problem ?
