Hi, my wife has a 2019 500 s with 6500 miles on clock. Last night clutch pedal went straight to floor with no resistance. Checked fluid level and sitting in between min and max. Any ideas ??? Thanks.

Broken clutch pedal

Master cylinder push rod disconnected from clutch pedal mount.

Still under warranty?

Is there any leeway to get service late due to cv19?

Maybe pay an independent garage to fix clutch problem then get it serviced at fiat to keep warranty going. Don't mention clutch problem to fiat at all in case it is used as excuse to void warranty.

Will give that a go thanks. have sent email to fiat explaining wife nurse in NHS and car is important for getting her to work.....doesn't excuse me from not getting serviced tho but then again service wouldn't have picked that up but would have maintained warranty.

Have a look in the drivers footwell to see if the clutch push rod has popped off the pedal .

Is the the connection you were meaning?

Move the pedal with your hand, is there any resistance at all?
You are looking at the small reservoir to the left looking at the engine?
Either something has become disconnected or air/leak, nothing hit the car underneath recently with a bang?

In your picture it is top right with grease on left hand edge.

Thanks for your help, and yes looks connected.

Resistance of the spring only, it returns back to position. Yes looking at the small reservoir to left hand side. Wife only drives it and not said of any bumps, last time out was in some snow.

Looks dry and clean from the limited bits can see.
Fingers crossed it will be something simple and relatively cheap like a broken /disconnected pipe .

If you are a member of rac/aa etc maybe worth getting them to look.

Please let us know the outcome.

Roughly where are you in country? Someone may be able to Reccomend a mechanic.

Best wishes

Jack

Hi :)

A quick check..

Pop the bonnet

Look at the top of gearbox (under the battery tray)

Is it wet and oily.. or dry and quite clean?

Could explain little resistance ;)

Also look through the passenger side wheel arch there will be a metal cylinder type device with pipes going through each side

This is a so called "quick connector" it's seem to be a common place for the clutch system to fail

Thanks, had look in passenger side wheel arch and seen the following parts 'wet', and faint signs of stain on drive, but reservoir is between min and max...

Nice picture of the quick connector looking like it is leaking .
I expect if you look at it while pedal is pressed a good squirt of fluid will come out.

It won't leak much if at all unless pedal pressed.
