I have my replacement clutch pipe, all hammerite painted and ready.
My old pipe is off at the slave end, but I'm stuck at the master end.

The mechanic, who took my "new" pipe off another Multi, told me there is a clip which needs to be pulled up and then pipe will come off...

I've taken a stabiliser bar off and cable tied various pipes out of the way but can't see enough to know what I'm doing, but I've tried to feel for a clip and I can't find one.

Can someone on here tell me if there is one, where it is, or other tips on how to get this pipe off please....

Thank you!

I had a look at mine just now... I can see a clip (I can't see it fully without stripping stuff as it's being blocked by a diesel line)

Anyway the clip to me looks like a positioning clip for the pipe, maybe unclipping it will allow it to drop forward/down a bit to improve access but I really don't think it's any more than that.
Plough on!!
Marty.

Thanks!!! Yes I have the same issue, you can either not see, or you can't get to it :bang: and to try and get any sort of tool anywhere near there....

What does the fitting at the master end of the "new" pipe look like? Is it a screwed fitting like the slave pic you posted earlier? Knowing what the fitting looks like may help identify any clip.

This link will take you to the ePER page, but there is not enough detail.

Well this is what I don't understand, as it looks like it screws off (the new one) but it doesn't move... also it's different to the one on the other side... BUT I feel hopeful now, as I've thought that the option of just cutting the pipe (it's good over on that side) and cutting the new pipe to connect them and not stress about getting the old pipe off.

I know this is a bit silly since I got a prefectly good pipe but it may just be a much easier option

Disappointing that no-one else has posted.
This afternoon, while finishing my cambelt replacement, there staring at me was my clutch master cylinder and the pipe connection. It occurred to me that this is probably the same as yours.

The pipe pushes into the master cylinder, and is held by a wire clip. The clip apparently just pulls out, but this will be difficult if you cannot see it, and very difficult to replace. It looks like you need a small hook, like the end of a very small screwdriver bent over, or the end of a split pin.

Big pic from Panda Haynes manual and photo from my car. Hope they help.

I've looked at eper and at my master cylinder(all I can see if it)
There is a short pipe coming from master and then a union where it joins to the long pipe that runs across the engine bay.
And if I'm reading the OPs problem correctly it's only the long pipe that needs replacing so shouldn't have to go near this clip....
Marty.

I get more and more confused by this...

I haven't looked at it since I wrote here last, but will go out and try and see if I can make this make sense for me tomorrow morning. :thumb Thank you!

Thank you for all your help with this. :worship:
I even had a fellow jtd Multipla owner stop and see if there was anything he could do but we were both as confused on how to get access. :(

This is how my new painted clutch pipe end looks....

and this is the best pic I can get of how the old rusty one sits in now... there are so many pipes and cables that needs to be held aside to even get the slightest glimpse, but I'm pretty sure I can see only the nut and the first smooth metal bit and the rest is inside a plastic or rubber thing, but I can't see or feel a clip...

Got the car booked in Saturday but would much prefer to get it done myself before then

Short pipe? I don't think there is one....

the arrows pointing to the pipe I've got, and the circle is key I think to getting new pipe in and more difficult (I hope not less difficult or I will scream, lol) , but from eper it looks like a nut that needs undoing.

Anyway will go out to have a look shortly, just wish I had flood light and was able to grow an extra hand... (y)

Mine must be slightly different to yours(mine is 2003)...look at the Eper picture i posted earlier in thread...It shows a short pipe(light blue hue) then a black pipe on the diagram, with a union joining them

This is consistent with what i see under my bonnet...at least that is how it looks to me aswell.
This is obviously of no help to you though unfortunately..
Marty.

The clip sits in groove A.
B may be a pipe nut, like on a brake pipe, that may undo from C, but you would need to prevent C from rotating. Being unable to see the clip on the car probably means getting grips or slip-joint pliers onto C on the car would also be impossible.

The clip, hopefully similar to the Panda's pics, slots into the master cylinder outlet end and locates in groove A. Looks simple, until they fit it into the car. I'm not familiar with the underbonnet of a Multi, but can you remove any insulation, or any plastic bits for access?

Pleas to everyone watching: On other threads, people have mentioned downloading workshop manuals for different vehicles, but I cannot find anything on this forum. Does anyone know where we could see how Fiat describe removing this clip?

Excellent, brilliant, thank you!!!!

It's all making a lot more sense now. And I have also found a couple of angles from where I can both see (a tiny little bit but better than nothing) AND get to it (again only just but I'm not about to complain, lol), one being actually sort of on top on the engine, which has the added benefit that I need to worry less about the bonnet slamming down on me (y)

Feeling extremely cheerful and would be out there still now to try and get to the elusive little clip (notice the lack of swear words, I think I must have used them all up irl already ;) ) if I didn't have to sort kids food etc out...

So for tomorrow, find and remove clip without losing it :chin: then get TWO tools into the tiniest space ever, fun day ahead methinks

Could this tiny, tiny, little thing be the hidden clip? (insert excited jumping up and down emoticon, lol)

That looks absolutely right.
Now you've found it, you need to extract it, with something with a hook on, or prise it out with a small screwdriver, but as it comes out the last bit, will try to go "ping" and fly across the street to the nearest drain, or grass. If you can get it up a little, then tie on a piece of string, or garden wire tie, to prevent loss and hours spent combing the ground, and every nook and crannie under the bonnet, only to find it in your hair!

Keep the string on until it is back in place.

There is light at the end of the tunnel. (Sadly, might be a train coming.)
Keep smiling.

Excellent, thanks! I feel incredibly cheerful right now, no doubt tomorrow will hold a whole new set of challenges for me to write about...

Will spend this evening thinking about hooked clip extractors, lol
