Clutch Noise ??

Has anyone experienced clutch problems on the bravo 80sx, if so does this sound familiar.. When a small amount of pressure is applied to the clutch pedal (not enough to fully engage the clutch), a weird noise occurs. Its sort of a graunching rotating noise (as though you can hear the plates spinning?) When the clutch is fully engaged, the action is smooth and the noise stops, and it releases fine. It only seems to be as the clutch starts to engage, and it only does it when the car is hot and the engine running. Turn off the engine, and the graunchy noise and feeling on the pedal returns to smooth again. The clutch itself seems to be working fine. Cars on 14K (but out of manufacturers warranty)
Does this sound at all familiar to anyone..?? any ideas what it is..??
Cars booked in next week, but I know its gonna be more cash, and the credit cards full from sorting all the other problems that i've had with it :( !!

Cheers

Absolutely normal

The clutch at the biting point under mediumish load (eg hill start) does resonate and you can hear the plates rubbing. I'm on 22K now and it's been no change since bought at 6K. Some cars do and some cars don't make a noise. If it's as you describe then it's not clutch bearing or clutch worn out but well.. an audible warning that your clutch it is biting! Go and have a pint and stop worrying!

Message for Brian S

Hello Brian
I responded to your '80 SX owners'. If you get a moment, could you read it? Do you do private work?
I live in the North London area.
Thanks

No I don't tend to get my hands too grubby these days. I'm about 120 miles up the M4 from you!
Regards and get that noise checked immediately!

Are You Sure It Is The Clutch

Marko,

I think the problem could be something else. I think you are worrying too much. Anyway shouldn't you be getting on with your work rather than wasting the companies time. How are you getting on with the Data Sound job?

Oh! When did you ever own a Fiat? Come to think of it have you passed your test yet?
Marko's been telling porkies.

No really. Personally speaking, they say that technically, mmaaarrrgghhh!

Pint size worry

Had the pint and stopped worrying. However, noise got worse and worse so had to take it in. Release bearing had nearly completely seized. Car is out of warranty but those kind Italians are covering parts and labour as it shouldn't have happened. Obviously didn't describe the symptom very well! Thanks for your help though :)
