Previous owner of my Bravo had the clutch done around 18mths ago and the gearbox replaces a couple months ago. When it's cold, the clutch seems normal but the more you drive it, it starts to judder. It's especially bad when you've been in stop/start traffic for a bit, have to rev it to about 2k-2.5k and be really gentle letting the peddle up so it crawls away, else it can feel like RWD axle tramp!

Possibly related, it sometimes really clunks/crunches into reverse....you know, like the clutch isn't properly disengaged. It sometimes also needs a double de-clutch to get it into first.

Again, possibly related, there's a metalic skimming sound when the engine is running which speeds up/down with the engine.

For the judder, could the pressure plate be knackered? For the noise, could it be as simple as a bent gearbox cover plate fouling against the flywheel?

Or is it more likely that the flywheel is warped and it's all tied in?

Thoughts? :D

No but it is leaking out fairly rapidly at the mo :p Would hope that's the cause and yeah, feared the pressure plate fingers getting weak when warm. Supposedly had a clutch kit though; surely that would include a new pressure plate? :/

leaking from where, d/shafts or bell housing, clutch judder can also show when you have oil on clutch plate especially when warm as the oil gets thinner and due to presure easily finds worn seals and gaskets to escape from. so depends on where your leak is really.

Seems to be coming from the N/S inner driveshaft seal but haven't had a chance to pull it out and see.

Check all your bellhousing bolts for tightness. Particularly the nut on the stud at the back of the engine. If a couple of these work loose all the symptoms you describe will happen.

Cheers for the tip, will have a look.

Topped up the gearbox oil and stuck some wynns stop leak in there, not had a chance to see if much of a difference has been made but will report back either way. Leak is definitely from N/S inner driveshaft seal so doubt it'll do much but we'll see

Also, the noise, I'm 99% sure its one of the aux belt pulleys. Very difficult to pinpoint, especially with the lack of clearance with the 5-pot!
