clutch help

when bringing up the clutch in 1 and sometimes when going from 1st to 2nd theres a grinding from the clutch? someone has had a quick look for me and noticed there was some oil in the gear box, he said the slave seemed to be leaking ??? any advice [

Sorry geezer, remind us what model you have. My HGT does (did!) the same thing from about 6,000 miles but we put it down to my driving style knackering gearboxes again (3 so far on various cars that needed replacement) but the HGT just gets on with it and has now done 30,000 with the same treatment. Unless it jumps out or doesn't change at at all I wouldn't worry about and treat it as the norm until it goes bang!

Sounds like your thrust bearing. I had the same, it lasted for about 8mths before it packed up altogether. Fiat quoted their usual thieving rates of about £500, but I got the job done at an independant for £150

Where did you get your bearings from my that is the gearbox bearings, been quoted £600 + parts or £495 for a replacement gearbox.
