Technical Clutch gone already?

My 03 Multipla is just over three years old, and the clutch has died suddenly! We've only covered about 36k miles - this seems a very poor life from clutch.

My local (non Fiat) garge have quoted me £425 to supply and install.

Has any one else had clutch problem so early in a cars life?
