Hi ,
I just bought an '01 JTD ELX (53k on the clock) and I love it !!

Couple of questions though.

1/ To get any gear I have to push the clutch pedal down so hard that my foot almost goes through the bulkhead

2/ The N/S mirror doesnt retract (or move out if manually pulled in)

3/ Can someone confirm the cambelt change interval as I have asked three garages and got 3 different answers

Many thanks in advance

Simon

cam belt every 5yrs or 72000 mls, which ever comes first.
hard to get gears, try bleeding the clutch but probably wants a new clutch as the release bearing wears throu the spinner plate. Pass on the mirror, without checking it with a volt meter or power probe, you can only guess, but probably the mirror it's self......welcome to the forum............................

Wow , great info thanks Pete (y)

You dont think the clutch problem maybe this 'spring' i keep reading about that breaks ?

thanks again

if the pedal comes up to the top on its own, then the spring in the master cylinder is ok.if you can press the clutch pedal down with no or very little resistance, for the first part of travel ,then it needs bleeding ,but if the pedal is firm from the top and hard to get reverse with out waiting a while or go into a forward gear first, then it is most likely to need a new clutch.
