I fitted a new cable, took it for the MOT, and it snapped on the way home.

The clutch is only 10,000 miles old, if that.

Is this either:

1. Me doing a bad job
2. The auto factor giving me a duff cable (He mentioned
3. Something else wrong causing it to snap
4. Bad adjustment
5. Other

(If other please specify)

Thanks in advance

The OEM ones normally do 75,000 miles.

Did you replace the release arm and bushes?

Have you checked it actually snapped the hook rather than the split pin. My son's car did this and it was just a matter of getting a new split pin.

Where did the cable snap - hook or cable inner?

The other alternative is that the clutch is on the way out and you are putting more force through the pedal than you realise.

The pedal should be very light to press down a cento, if it isn't then the odds are the clutch is worn out or the clutch arm is sticking (not unheard of).

Another possibility that occurs to me is that you didn't grip the cable inner while you were adjusting the tension, if the cable is allowed to spin not only does it take much longer to make the adjustment but it also starts to tear the cable itself and once that happens it doesn't take all that much to snap it.
