Bit hard to visualise what your 1 1/2 inches off the floor means Nikko - I tend not to have my head under the dash when moving off
Mines the FWD, but I shouldn't think it'd make much difference to the clutch. It starts to bite maybe a quarter of the way up, engages through another third and the rest is top up. Hard to say really. The best way to describe it is that it feels neither high nor low and has a sensible spread.
If yours is any different, have a chat with a mechanic. It just might be your driving style but if you've noticed it, or started to notice it, that suggests something has changed and getting it checked isn't a bad move.
The car is used in the main by the missus , but due to the snow the school run fell to me and although the biting point does not seem any different to when she bought it , to me it seems that the pedal has to go almost to the floor to enable a clean gear change , still , as you suggest a visit to the local stealers

And I have to say it performed admirably in the snow and ice and the quick warm up was appreciated !!
. Much improved over the Mokka diesel 4x4 I had last year , winter was over before any useable heat was produced into that cabin
Not trying to be funny here - check that the carpet hasn't bunched up under the clutch pedal. I had a car do that to me years ago and it produced results similar to what you report. It doesn't need much and it's more about how it feels under your foot rather than a big mountain stopping the pedal going to the floor.
As Aussie said above its quite hard to gauge the distance but after checking I'd say there's been about 3 or 4 inches travel before its bitten enough to move off.
