I have recently noted an occasional knock from the rear of the car
I suspect it could well be the rear axle bushes
I note that these are available from shop 4 parts
has anyone replaced these and can offer advice on the ease or difficulty

Mine has just started to do similar. In my case Im certain its the first signs of a damper going. Its still slight and occasional so I cant really waste too much time as its not going to be easy to duplicate the noise yet. I must check the springs though. Shocks really eed to be unbolted any problems will be immediately apparrent.

I replaced the shock absorbers a couple of years a circa 12k ago
I will unbolt them and check
I will change the bolts also as I used the old ones and maybe they are worn which could be part of the problem

I checked the shock absorbers and the o/s one has sideways play on the spindle when i grasped it and moved it side to side
the n/s one is ok
ordered new ones and bolts from S4P
Hopefully solves the matter
On to checking the front ARB bushes next !!

Thanks

I have a feeling mine may be failing over the 1st centimeter of compression but otherwise sound. I changed my daughters rears recently. It was just becoming clonky. The top bushes were toast at 25k. Mine has nearly got to 30k it still rides very well but know has the small knock over big bumps. Trailing arm bushes I feel are unlikely to fail. Do the final tighten with weiggt on the wheels so the bushes sit at rest in the parked up mode.
Ive grown to expect 60 to 80k from dampers butIcan live with 30 to 50k as reasonable. Pandabird 3 was transformed with new rears. Ill bet the 4x4 dampers are double the cost tho. I drove across the fens and back yesterday. The road was APPALLING! The subsince was so severe in places a 2wdPanda would have been damaged. Almost a footdrop. neatly tarmaced so thestep up was a 60 degree step. Less than not good in the dark. Coming home a Porsch 911 reduced to under 40mph 😁 I tookonly a very small KINMASSIVE delight inletting noopblow him into the weeds. Being narrow we fitted on the top deck while staying inside the centre line. He was straddling the tarmac cliffs of cambridgeshire. He bought the wrong car!
