got another problem with the fugly, it started the other night on the way to work so i turned around and came straight back home as it felt like the wheels were about to drop off!! the steering is really clunking when turning and it feels like it has a mind of its own when driving, lurching about etc. its obviously not safe but before i book it into a garage is there anything obvious to check? i have checked the tightness of the wheels and they are ok, and i have just had a go with the steering whilst stationary and its lurching about when i am turning it........ it feels expensive :(

after a bit of investigation, one of the wishbone bushes has fallen out so i got a new one for 12 quid and just need to fit it :) bit cheaper than the 200 quid the garage quoted....... skinned knuckles time me thinks ;)

must be common fault. just bought a multipla 05, after just 2 weeks the front passenger side wheel wisbone bush fell out. had to drive at 20 mph for 20 min on A road, going round corners was quite scary. i dont who was more frightened, me or my 8 yr old daughter.

it looks a nice easy job to do, but 3 days in and i am still trying to get one of the rounded bolts out :( if i can get a day when its not lashing down i will be ok, but lying under the car in the rain trying to get a knackered bolt filed down to size is not the best way to spend time off work!!

well, after a good thrashing from the angle grinder i managed to get the last bolt out. went to put the new bush on and the shop had given me the wrong side!!! finally got the right side and can i get it on? can i hell!!! only got about another 1.5 cm to go but the end of the bush i am whacking is in a right mess. total of 5 hours hammering and its not for moving!! i know it has to be on tight but i think i might have to take that one off and get a new one. thinking of filing the wishbone down a little for an easier fit but not sure if thats a silly idea......:bang:

Why not just buy a complete wishbone assembly form Buypartsby? They're dopey cheap (£16.19+VAT+Del) and it will save you a lot of grief. If you haven't seen it already, have a read of this:

The bushes are meant to be pressed in in a hyraulic press (maybe a large vice if you get lucky and dead aligned). Don't start filing out the existing wishbone - that might put stress-raising grooves into it, however small. Sudden failure of the wishbone would not be pleasant

now that is cheap :) if only i had seen that before!! never mind, at least i didnt pay 200 for the garage to do it for me :)
