Technical Cleaning Throttle Body

take it off and clean it with brakecleaner. Just undo the ecu plugs on the top of the tb remove them and then undo the 4 hex bolts on the side of the tb, then you can take it off. Have to remove a vacuum line as well but you can just pull it off.

pour brake fluid down the throttle body and rev it like mad, loads of white smoke and clean!!!!

btw i never tryed this on my own car lol, my mate tryed it on his polo and worked a treat smoother on tickover and stopped stallin on tick over now.

The throttle body is under the air cleaner assembly. Note that there is a rubber breather pipe from the air cleaner to the camshaft cover (a bit fiddly to push back on).

The throttle body sits on top of the inlet manifold. It includes the throttle butterfly, the combined air temp and pressure sensor (RHS) and the idle control stepper motor (LHS, integral).

Not sure about pouring brake fluid down there though. Brake cleaner is of course a different substance (more of a solvent, which makes sense for cleaning).

red.
