Technical Cinq Sporting Performance Chip

give it chance mate,

youve only given it 45 minutes, and its gone 2 am now

try looking back in the morning, as here should be a punto owner around to give you an answer (im only a cinq owner, so i wouldnt want to say, incase its wrong :p)

yeh i know they soldered... so tht y i wondering what ecu to swap it with, tht way i can use the krich chip and still keep my old ecu just in case..

you need an ecu that the chip isnt soldered in. just stick the ecu in give it time to settle and your good to go (y)

i believe all the chips in a punto are soldered (not 100% sure on that though)
or be/find someone who is willing to socket your ECU problem solved. Also socketing your ECU doesn't mean your chip is fried however I don't think a soldered chip go in the socket

i dont think u are unsderstanding me....:)

will a cinq sporting ecu do the job and work?!

should do, yes  and you'll have a higher rev limiter if i remeber correctly :chin:

but your immobliser wont, but then if your getting a normal McKritch chip, you wont mind anyway :p

The best thing is email Mike,

I had probs with mine as I wanted to keep the immobiliser but the details on the chip were very unclear but he managed to do it anyway. IIRC he could crack the punto ECU immobiliser as at one point that is what we thought I had.

As I say he is a really helpful and knowledgeable guy just ask him

I emailed McKRich a picture of my original chip, and god only knows how he was able to get the code off of that, the code looked like it was in ancient Mayan as opposed to numbers but somehow he managed it :)

Have fitted my universal chip today (Allanhelen- the ECU worked ;)) and it was simple, took what, maybe 10 minutes. Instructions are very precise and clear. Have not had a chance to fully test the improvements due to traffic but can definitely feel more torque for overtaking.
Thanks Michael, best £42 I ever spent (y)

Gonna fit mine when i get the GSR kit and the tricker TB, do it all in one hit. I cant bloody wait!!!!!

Skinz, how long did it take for yours to "bed in", did she run rough for a little while or was she ok straight off the bat?

Roll on pay day!!!

Im not too sure if mines fully bedded in yet woodins, only done 60 miles or so on it. Started first time and I think the idle and running is smoother to be honest. Doesn't seem to have increased top speed, which could be down to the ECU still learning(?) (on private roads ;)), but more useable torque is certain.

Good to know. Not really interested in top speed (living in south london/north kent is a bit optimistic) just want to get rid of those annoying flat spots int he first three gears, sounds like the McKRich does it.

You may still slightly feel the flatspot when cold, but once at 70 degrees upwards all is OK. Also after discussion with Arc on MSN, it will take roughly 300miles to "bed" in.

got my one fitted and i'm really happy with how it drives now, pulls alot more throughout the rev range and going up hills is lot more easier!,

still got my immobiliser too,

great stuff,

nath

Had mine fitted for a few months.

No flat spots. Still got the immobiliser. Easy fitting, once i'd worked out what way round it goes.

I believe it's removed / increased the rev limiter?

yep i think it has been seen to work fine on a 1242 8v, you wont need a new ECU, just check to see if its soldered or slot in type,

i think people on the forum have it fitted to their 1242's
