Any idea how to get the cigarette lighter socket out so that I can get to the wiring to pick up a 12v feed for my Origin B2 ? If it's too much of a p.i.t.a I suppose I'll have to pop the radio out instead...

It looks as though it should just pop out, but there's a hump on the side which looks like it's the night illumination lamp which stops the socket from coming out and I can't see any way to remove the 'hump'. The socket is keyed so can't be turned in situ.

I'm looking to mount the B2 at the bottom of the centre console as the dash has no flat & level areas.

I'm going to have to use two screws to mount it as I've discovered that my previous favourite mounting method, the wonderful 3M "Command" adhesive strips are no use on the GP's dimpled dash surface :bang:

Am hoping to be able to position the screws so that any holes that remain when I sell the car will be out of sight.

Any hints gratefully received (y)

Cheers
Robin

That was my plan but the leads are fairly short and they're taped up. There's no access to the bottom of the socket unfortunately. I don't fancy melted centre console and burnt fingers...

I think I'm going to pull the radio out and pick up a feed from there.

Thanks anyway :)

Wobbin the wiring is on a 3 pin multi plug the release tab is on the right (drivers side) press it and pull it down (having first pulled off the gear gaitor i had mine off when i wired in my front fog lamps (no real drama) there are three wires red black and yellow + - and side light supply respectively

Cheers Andy,

Knowing how to release the plug is a great help thanks - I think there's just enough space with the gearlever gaiter lifted to get my hand in there.

Helps if you have fingers like a gynaecologists clerk though I reckon :D

Perhaps that should be:

"the techs at my local dealer attacked it with a small screwdriver and then the fuse needed changing" :D

Good point re the fuse rating. Methinks I'll tap off from the bottom of the socket and use an inline 1 amp fuse to feed the B2.

Cheers all :)
