Hi everyone, looking for some help on my wee multipla I recently got.

After about three weeks of driving it, it started to accelerate randomly, started when the car wasn't in gear. Now it does it in/out of gear, and its reving right up the scale. Noticed a few times its like dropping up then down then up then down etc.

Now it's started to chug, baddly, a few times the engine management light has come on beeping like mad.

Had a look around car myself but I'm as much use as a cow looking round it, not got a clue! I did see a broken bit of piping stuff just behind the engine. Follow the pipe and it leads to a bright blue pipe and this black cylindrical thing.

If anyone could help, it would be great as THERES A RECESSION ON!!!!

there's a couple of things you could try cleaning first. One is the throttle body. The other is the idle control valve. Oh and another thing you could give a clean is the crank position sensor.
All you need is a can of cheap carb cleaner. Should be no more than £4.
My multi is a petrol and chugged. I cleaned all of the above and is reduced it drastically. Mine never over-revved though.

try and reconnect that pipe. It helps with emission control. I've forgot what its called cuz its been a long day and im typing this half asleep. :)

That's brilliant thanks very much. Someone said it was to do with air yeah. Its actually broken off, need a whole new black plastic thingy.
Thanks again!

Does anyone know where I could get instructions or diagrams on how to do this? J

I have the same thing and bought an diagnostic gadget on line plugged it in and have now got a code PO170 01/01 according to the book that came with the gadget it is a fuel management problem on bank 1. Now I need a good FIAT multipla manual to find out how to fix it! had a manual in disc about as useful as a chocolate spanner. HELP.
