Hey guys

I have a 02 plate Punto ELX and have been having some issues lately.

first of all i hadn't driven it for the past couple of weeks as i had a work car so it was left unused for a couple of weeks.
When i got back in it a drove it i went over a really rough patch of road that jerked the car around a lot and i noticed all my dashboard lights were flashing on and off randomly, after stopping the car and re starting it they all went off.
Now driving today i noticed the yellow engine light come on and then go off again, then the same with the abs light etc, now it wont start at all, i have power as the lights and windscreen etc all work but it wont start, when i turn the key one notch i get a very loud clicking noise and when i then turn it more to start i get nothing.

any ideas?

ki'll get the AA out tomorrow to see what they say before taking it to a garage if it ever starts again

Cheers

You need a new battery and/or alternator yes you have power to turn some lights on but starting a car takes serious juice and the battery hasn't got it, flashing dash lights and dancing needles is usually a good indication of low voltage resulting in a knackered battery.

AA man has been and apparently my earth cable was not attached to anything so i had no charge from my battery, he reconnected and started it and no issues so far (y)
