checking details of a car

how do people check the details of a car? is it via the dvla?

looking at buying a new car and jsut wanted to see if some of the details match

ive brough a car but it seems to have gone tits up (second car in a row - yay me)

Think you need a very understanding friend in the police or in the DVLA to get that sort of information.

Yeah but if the guy has the V5 then thats no good.
So the only other places that can cross reference those bits of data will be the police and the DVLA. I think anyway.

surely you picked up the car form their home address? just go back and knock on the door. if you collected the car at a different address to the address on the V5 then you made a very big mistake. you should only ever buy a car from the person on the V5 (ask for ID) at the address on the V5. anything else is taking a risk.

btw you bought the car, then you brought it home, that extra r letter completely changes the meaning of the word.
