Technical Check your stick!

Just had the multi off the road for 24 hours after it decided to make the gearstick a two part item by shearing off the bracket which attaches to the selector cables.

Best everyone periodically checks these in case you end up stick in a car park with only reverse gear like I did!

According to the AA guy he'd seen this before on another FIAT van (possibly a Doblo).

Having looked at the design, to my eyes it looks like it's been made to cost. If the bracket had been longer and made to come round the stick and back on itself to form a triangulated section then it would have had much more strength.

my old multi had done that, someone had made a delightful job of welding it back together, you really had to shove it to get it in first.

a multipla? with bits on it made to cost......?!

yep been there done that , mine went about three months ago unbolt the three bolts and reolace it with one from the scrappy( if you can find one)
